Norwood

We will:

  • Campaign for a leisure centre with swimming pool at the Norwood Hall site – Norwood has been completely neglected by Labour and residents have to travel to Brixton or out of the borough for leisure facilities.
  • Demand a new primary school in West Norwood – In the past four years no progress has been made by the Labour administration to meet the demand for more primary school places — families are saying enough is enough. We pledge to deliver a new school at least on a temporary site by 2011.
  • More funding for libraries in West Norwood – The Upper Norwood Joint Library managed by Lambeth and Croydon deserves more funding — we pledge to restore Labour’s cuts and also to ensure more investment in the West Norwood Library as well as longer opening hours.
  • Crackdown on anti-social licensed premises - Some licensed premises are causing a huge nuisance to local residents who cannot sleep at night. We will support any residents seeking a review of the licence at any premises that is causing a public nuisance or encouraging criminal activity.
  • Ban the dustcart depots from residential areas – We are supporting local residents who oppose the siting of dustcarts in residential areas such as Vale Street – Labour has failed to resolve the issue and is punishing local people for its incompetence.
