Streatham

shops

Labour Lambeth has presided over the decline of Streatham Town Centre. Streatham has a strong community spirit with excellent transport links. Our community has been let down by the Labour council. Big department stores have long since left and the High Road is littered with empty shops.

Our community needs a council that responds to its needs and allows the people who live here to shop in the area, swim in the area and live in a safe and clean environment.

Make Streatham town centre a hive not a highway

We will use new discretionary powers brought in by a new Conservative Government to levy business rate discounts for businesses that re-locate or
start up in shops that are currently empty on Streatham High Road.

We will ensure that large department stores are no longer barred from Streatham by obstructive planning policies, poor parking provision and hostile
attitudes towards investment.

Empower the people that can make Streatham thrive

We will liberate the Streatham Town Centre Manager and Streatham Business Board from Town Hall bureaucracy by releasing control of the Town Centre budget and holding the board accountable for its administration.

Control of locally delivered services should be decided with consultation from the Town Centre Manager.

Address Labour’s failure to provide leisure facilities in Streatham

We will ensure that the Hub development becomes a reality and that leisure facilities for our community are provided as a matter of urgency. We will investigate every way to make the repairs necessary to re-open Streatham Leisure Centre that Labour Lambeth has shamelessly allowed to fall into disrepair.

Improve the local environment in Streatham so that our streets are clean and our children are safe

We will crack down on antisocial behaviour like street drinking in Streatham town centre.

Plant more trees and ensure that the streets are kept free from litter in order to make roads like Streatham High Road more friendly.
