  1. 2) The Knights Hill action group (who are great) recently posted a leaflet through my letterbox saying that they had persuaded the council to clean the pedestrian bridge over Canterbury Grove. Just to let you know that this cleaning has not yet taken place – it still looks terrible.
    2) The field next to Norwood Hall has been completely ignored for a year – the grass has not been mowed and it too is looking awful. I know there are plans to develop this site but they are far from being approved – but the council seems to think that this means they don’t have to bother with the field any more. We don’t have a lot of green space in WNW, so it would be nice if they could maintain the ones that we do….with many thanks…Sslly

  2. We live next to an empty property in Mayall Rd. Evidently squatters lives in it for 11 years and were evicted last year before they got ownership of the house after 12 years. SInce then it has been lying empty Sept 2009. We have reported this to Lambeth, they said they can do nothing, as it is up to the owner of the house.
For the past two weekend we have been under seige from squatters trying to break in. We have caught them four times trying to break in but they just run away. We call the Police , they say is they’re already gone there is nothing they can do. We called the owner and she has now boarded up the windows, which is like a beacon to would be squatters. I feel very frustrated!!! Is there anything I can do

  3. As a resident of Herne Hill for some years i have seen a steady increase in the successful extensions to bar licenses to allow them to operate up to 4am each weekend. It seems that the police struggle to cope with this and myself and other members of our block of flats have all complained about noise from bar 127 and Escape bar (when it was in operation) often going on later than 4am.

What i, and the other residents i live with really want dealt with is the removal of this 4am license on the premises around Herne Hill and change them back to the 2am maximum they had before Lambeth started unreasonably extending the licenses in a residential area,(ideally I’d like it to be midnight but this is probably unreasonable).

Is this something that you would be able to help with? If more signatures etc are required to get this higher up the agenda then i’d be happy to rally up more support as it is a regularly agreed upon grievance among local residents on the Herne Hill Forum.

    Regards,
    James Martin
